Although many people say that it seems very dirty, many merchants pay a lot of attention to their products, shooing the flies away, etc. Why? Because they are fresh products. I have more confidence buying here rather than buying in a supermarket where they will give you a two-day-old frozen fish. As far as the food in the area, I have not had the tried too much there but there is a place I believe is called Tacos Lucero; there, I highly recommend a hot fish broth. I am a devoted customer there because of the great broth that they serve there in a hot bowl, with shrimps, fish, squid, snails, etc. I just love it.
Ha ! i haven't eat in " El mercado negro " in years ! last time i think it was like 10 years ago and it wasn't the same as it was back in the 90's, the locals need to bring it up to where it was before, as one of the main spots.
Would I ever eat anything here or buy anything here? No!
So why would I give this place five stars? For sheer terror factor. This place terrifies me. Even if you don't buy anything, the fish mongers will gladly show you the enormous teeth on the terrifying sea monsters that they sell. Combined with seeing the fish bits everywhere, you won't sleep for a week after visiting this place. Either that, or you'll really want a fish taco.
