It's great that Rosarito Ocean Sports opened up. They provide great services that are a big benefit to the area - waverunner rentals, kayaks, boat trips, etc. They even have camel rides. We've tried the ocean kayaks and everything was great.
The only downside is that a lot of their rentals can be really expensive - even compared to places in San Diego. But other than that, give them a try.
Mi Casa Supper Club is both a private dining club and a public restaurant. The food is mostly mediterranean but the menu changes every month.
Everything here is really amazing. The food is on a whole different level than other restaurants in the area. The decor is fantastic and there is an ocean view from every seat.
This place is really a must-visit for anyone visiting or living in the area.
This is a brand new restaurant at K38. They moved down here from Encinitas. When we went to visit them, they had only been open a few days but everything already ran pretty smoothy.
The view is great. They are right on the ocean and have a giant outside patio area. There is even a pool table overlooking the ocean.
The food here is pretty highly priced for the area, but overall it was good. I was excited to see that they had several vegetarian options. The hummus starter plate was one of the tastiest I've had anywhere. I also had the vegetable soup and pasta. The soup was full of fresh vegetables. The pasta was tasty and fresh, but not as memorable as the hummus.
With the view and the food quality, I'd definitely come here again. I'm sure it will get even better after they get settled in.
This is a cute little Mexican-style cafe right across the street from the Rosarito Beach Hotel.
Instead of Italian-style coffee (like espresso), they have Café de Olla which is more of a warm spiced drink. They also have pastries and churros.
So while this isn't a good place to go if you want espresso, it's a fun little place to check out to get something more traditionally Mexican.
This is a new fancy café in La Cacho. It's right around the corner from Das Cortez, another great café.
The inside of this café is really nice and there are a few seats if you want to sit for a while and read. The drinks are pretty much perfect. I highly recommend you stop by if you are in the area.
What a great surprise! We randomly walked in here after the place we meant to go was closed.
The decor was beautiful. It's a classy place, but laid back and colorful. It looks a lot like the inside of El Taller. That makes sense because it turns out the same chef runs both restaurants.
Most importantly, the food was fantastic. The best thing we had was the Vegetarian Pizza. It was covered with perfectly roasted broccoli and carrots. It was very filling. Give it a try!
I liked this place a lot more than I thought I would. I don't really care for old-school touristy Meixcan places like 'El Nido' that much. The food at those places seems very heavy. But while Tapanco is very similar to El Nido, it was better in most every way.
For example, they have a fresh salad tray they bring to your table. The lettuce was crisp and clean and the vegetables all looked great. It was such a nice break from the heavy food at this kinds of places. I really enjoyed the salad. You could easily make a meal out of the salad if you didn't want to order the other food they have.
This place still as a lot in common with places like El Nido and Las Pelicanos, but I like the food better in most every way. I can see why it is so popular with locals even if it's not my favorite.
The Point has a lot of potential. I just think we caught them on a bad night.
The location right on the ocean is great. You can eat outside on the patio overlooking the waves. No complaints there! There's a great view inside too. There are large windows inside that overlook the ocean.
The problems started when we ordered. First, I ordered a veggie burger (really just vegetables on a bun) with fries. It turns out they didn't have any fries. So then we ordered another burger. Turns out they were out of beef. So... a burger place without burgers and fries. Then when we got the food, they forgot the cheese on one and the bacon on the other.
On the good side, pretty much everything tasted really fresh and flavorful. The chips they served were fresh and the salad was great. I'm sure if they had their normal food available, it would have been at least 4 stars.
For dessert, we got churros with ice cream. The churros were fresh and crispy. The ice cream tasted good, but it had some little ice chunks in it which were a little distracting.
I bet on a different night, this place would be great! It was good enough that I would try it again.
